In the 1992 the European Comunity created forms of defence against disloyal competition. These protection systems are known as DOP, IGP and STG. The purposes of these systems were various: to encourage different agricultural productions, to protect trademark against abuse and imitations, to supply customers with supplementary information about specific character and, above all, to avoid that the exported products would be imitated abroad or that other companies would unlawfully use the label
Here follows specifications:
1. DOP (Favourite Name of Origin): it identifies the product designation which production, transformation and elaboration must be situated in a determinate noticed recognized geographic area
2. IGP (Geographic Indication Favourite): when at least a phase of a production process (manifacture and/or transformation and/or product elaboration), is guarantee as a connection between the product and a determinate territory
3. STG (Traditional Speciality Guaranteed): when a product is manufactured respecting a typical traditional custom composition or methode.
